In 1928, the Ma Clique joined the Kuomintang, and during the period from 1928 to 1949, much of Amdo was gradually assimilated into the Qinghai province (and part of Gansu province) of the Kuomintang \u003cspan class=\"mw-redirect\"\u003eRepublic of China\u003c\/span\u003e.
